Interview with Gus
What is your next big goal? To qualify for the 2020 Age Group World-Champs in Canada. I’ve been increasing the intensity of my trainings and focusing on things that need improving to get ready for this. I can’t wait
What is your post training cravings you can’t go without? An iced chocolate Up&Go!
A fun fact people may not know about you? It took me a long time to find a sport I really wanted to stick to. I went through Soccer, Rugby, Cricket, and then finally found Triathlon.
Favourite Training Session? Brick Sessions, stacking two discipline into one training makes for a killer training session.
How many hours of sleep do you usually get a night? Around 8-9 hours. When I don’t get enough sleep, I usually find it hard to wake up for the next session, this is vital as missing training sessions can also demotivate you!
Funniest place you’ve ever fallen asleep? I’m always falling asleep in class.
Trainings in the morning or afternoon? Defiantly morning, I like the feeling of training while most people are still asleep.
How old were you when you started competing? Started running at 10 years old, then my coach threw me into the pool and onto a bike not long after!
What inspires you most to keep training day after day? I love being able to see improvements, it keeps me motivated. I see improvements in training, and in racing, but I like seeing them more in racing, because that is when you really get to see how much your physical performance has improved.
